Much to do

Back of boat on trailer going down road into sunset

The beautiful white lake calls
As it has done before
But then it had to wait
For there was much you had to do

Now the patient lake insists
And like the tide you leave
I ask, Why can’t you stay?
For there is still much we need to do

But you quietly move on
And with a heart aching large
I collect the pieces of our memories
And keep them as what I need to do

And one happy day we will embrace again
And laugh about drunks at Powell
And cry about struggles apart
For this is what we have waited to do

And with eyes a wet I’ll say
Thank you my friend
For lifting my life
And giving your love
For these gave strength for me to do
